Who We Are

WHAT IS EARTH CHARTER ISRAEL? We want to help develop the goals of the Earth Charter - to build a just and sustainable global community -- by creating a sense of community here in Israel and to establish a better sustainable lifestyle for everyone. Our ECI network brings together people from dialogue groups, education, organic businesses, peace building, cleantech, green economy, green building, government, civil society, ethnic and religious communities, and the youth.

The Earth Charter ethical principles are designed to create a more just, caring society that lives in peace with itself and the natural environment. We know that these principles can become part of the social covenant in Israel through the development of dialogue skills. We want all Israelis to see Earth as their home and understand how to care for our home and our living community.

Stephanie Tansey used to live in Tel Aviv and there set up Earth Charter Israel with your great friends and comrades-in-arms. Now she lives currently in Abuja, Nigeria where she conducts community building programs using her innovative dialogue skills approach to communication. She uses the principles of the Earth Charter to create a global consciousness and then works on personal dialogue skills and community building efforts so that everyone can be part of the building of a peaceful, just and sustainable global community. Before Abuja she worked in Israel for three years and developed the foundation of her present work. In Turkmenistan using her dialogue skills she created a Community Education Center and she is the founder of a bilingual international school, New School of Collaborative Learning, in Beijing, China.
